As a two-time undisputed world champion and Olympic gold medallist, there’s not much that Katie Taylor hasn’t achieved in boxing.
But while sitting on the stage next to her boxing icon, Mike Tyson, in New York City, she admitted that she was “pinching herself” during the most surreal moment of her life.
“The last year my family said ‘Is there anything I want to do before I retire?’ One of the things I said was, ‘I’d love to meet Mike Tyson’ and here he is beside me,” Taylor said during Monday’s fight press conference.
“You’re a legend, an icon of the sport,” Taylor said facing Tyson. “I fell in love with the sport in the 90s, then Mike Tyson was the biggest name. He was ferocious, a real historian as well. I love your knowledge of boxing. I cannot believe I’m sitting next to Mike Tyson right now, I’m pinching myself.”
