Jon Jones Dismisses Tom Aspinall, Rules Out Title Unification Fight Ahead of UFC 309.

Jon Jones, the former two-time light heavyweight champion and current heavyweight titleholder, has been making headlines with his bold comments aimed at fellow heavyweight contender Tom Aspinall. Despite Aspinall’s impressive performances, Jones seems comfortable avoiding a title unification bout with the British fighter.

Jones, who has been sidelined since his dominant victory over Ciryl Gane in March last year, is expected to return to the octagon at UFC 309 later this year. In his last appearance, Jones submitted Gane with a first-round guillotine choke, cementing his position as a top heavyweight in the division.

Aspinall, currently holding the interim heavyweight title, has also been in top form. The Atherton native defended his crown at UFC 304 in July, securing a first-round knockout win over Curtis Blaydes, avenging his previous loss to Blaydes in the promotion.

However, Jones recently took to social media to make it clear that he has no interest in facing Aspinall in a title unification fight. The former pound-for-pound king stated his legacy is already solidified, and a potential fight with Aspinall does not hold the allure it might for other fighters.

“Maybe I’ll leave you with blue balls, but my legacy will be just fine,” Jones posted on his official social media account. “I’ve done way too much work in this game. Aspinall would need to win multiple championships to even come close to my accomplishments. My body of work isn’t getting touched anytime soon.”

Jones is expected to return to action against former champion Stipe Miocic in November at Madison Square Garden. As fans eagerly anticipate his comeback, it seems Jon Jones remains unfazed by the challenge posed by Tom Aspinall and is focused on adding to his already impressive legacy.

As Jon Jones gears up for his highly anticipated return, it’s clear that his focus remains on his own legacy rather than a potential showdown with interim champion Tom Aspinall. For now, it seems that Jones has no plans to unify the titles, leaving fans wondering what’s next for both heavyweight stars.
