Joe Joyce Reveals Who Hits Harder Between Joshua and Dubois After Facing Both in the Ring – “He Breaks My Teeth”

Joe Joyce has been in the ring with both Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois.

These two Brits have plenty in common as they head into their IBF world title fight at Wembley Stadium on September 21.

Both have considerable punching power and know what it takes to stop their opponents. Both have taken difficult losses from the current number one Oleksandr USyk before rebuilding and coming back stronger.

In Joshua’s case, he also had an upset loss to Andy Ruiz Jr and back-to-back defeats to Usyk, while Dubois suffered an eye injury against Joyce which forced him to take a knee and a ten count before losing to Usyk last summer. Since then has stopped both Fillip Hrgovic and Jarrell Miller to answer questions about his heart in the ring.

Joshua’s last three fights have also been won by stoppage, and so the scene is set perfectly for them to now do battle in the ring.

Joyce knows what that is like having sparred with Joshua and beaten Dubois and was asked by Seconds Out to compare the power of the two men.

“Raw power Dubois. But Joshua has that power too. It’s maybe a bit quicker. I remember him putting the hands together a bit more. Dubois is improving as well also we’re going to have to see on the night.”

Joyce said Dubois’ jab is ‘powerful like a back hand’ and recalled after their fight that he could ‘feel a lot of bruises’ from the hard shots. He then assessed their speed, endurance, and heart.

“Dubois is younger so [speed] could be Dubois but it’s close. [Endurance] I’m not sure. I think they’re quite equal in their attributes. I’d edge with ‘AJ’ with his experience. But I would say, Dubois hits him with the raw power. They have both had their ups and downs. In this fight, they will have a lot of heart and determination to beat each other so I think that would be quite equal.”

Pushed for a prediction, Joyce couldn’t pick between them.

“There’s a lot of variables. I’m just excited to see what happens. As soon as the fight starts you can kind of tell. It’s whoever gets hit first really … They’ve both got good coaches for them for this fight, so it’s a real head-to-head. May the best man win.”

Joyce is looking to rebuild himself having lost to Derek Chisora last time out and following a pair of defeats to Zhilei Zhang last year. He says seeing the all-British heavyweight banger this month with spur his comeback on.
