Based on the NFL schedule rotation, the Jets and their three AFC East rivals will face teams from the AFC North and the NFC South in the 2025 NFL season. With their third-place finish in the division following Sunday’s win over the Dolphins, the Jets will also add the third-place finishers in the AFC West, the Broncos, and the NFC East, the Cowboys.
The Jets will host nine teams and visit eight on the road. They will face five playoff teams (Buffalo twice; Pittsburgh; Denver; Baltimore; and Tampa Bay) and seven teams who finished with records under .500.
JETS Home OPPONENTS (9)
Buffalo Bills (13-4 overall, 5-4 away)
After home triumphs over the Bills in 2022 and ’23, the Jets dropped a seesaw affair, 23-30, to the Bills last October at MetLife Stadium. During the loss, RB Breece Hall amassed 169 yards from scrimmage and totaled 113 yards on the ground (6.3 yds/carry). Buffalo RB James Cook recorded back-to-back 1,000-yard rush campaigns and his 16 rush TDs this season to set a franchise mark.
Miami Dolphins (9-8, 4-5)
The Jets closed their 2024 season at home against the ‘Fins with a 32-20 win.
New England Patriots (4-13, 2-7)
The Jets trounced the Pats, 24-3, in Week 3 as the offense totaled 400 yards and the defense racked up 7 sacks including 2 from Will McDonald IV. Team MVP Jamien Sherwood made his first start of the season at MLB, finishing with 5 stops.
Cleveland Browns (3-14, 1-8)
Like the Jets, the Browns will be in rebound mode next season. While Deshaun Watson remains under contract, the Browns could target a quarterback early in the NFL Draft. The Jets are 3-1 in their past four home games against Cleveland. The Browns went 1-10 outside the AFC North this season.
Pittsburgh Steelers (10-7, 5-4)
The Jets will look to secure a third consecutive home win over the Steelers and fifth in their past six contests against Pittsburgh at home. They raced to a 15-6 lead over Pittsburgh in Week 7, but the Steelers answered with 31 straight points on “Sunday Night Football.” HC Mike Tomlin’s outfit lost its final four contests heading into the postseason.
Atlanta Falcons (8-9, 4-4)
The Michael Penix Jr. era has begun in the ATL with young playmakers Bijan Robinson (304-1,456-14 TDs) and Drake London (100-1,271-9TDs). The Birds were in playoff contention until the final week, but the NFC South title went to the Buccaneers.
Carolina Panthers (5-12, 2-6)
The Jets and the Panthers have gotten well-acquainted the past couple of summers in the Carolinas, participating in joint practices in 2023 and ’24 and preseason games. After getting benched early in the season, Bryce Young, the No. 1 overall selection in 2023, showed promise down the stretch.
Denver Broncos (10-7, 4-5)
The Jets and the Broncos will square off a sixth consecutive season and seventh time in eight years. Last September, the Broncos tripped up the Jets, 10-9, in the rain. With rookie QB Bo Nix and one of the NFL’s top defenses, HC Sean Payton led the Broncos into the postseason for the first time since 2015.
Dallas Cowboys (7-10, 5-3)
The ‘Boys will visit MetLife Stadium for the first time since 2019 as the Jets look to push their home win streak over Dallas to three. Garrett Wilson, one of five WRs to start a career with 80-plus catches and 1,000 yards in three straight seasons, and CeeDee Lamb, who totaled 496 receptions, 6,339 yards and 38 TDs in five seasons, will take center stage.
JETS AWAY OPPONENTS (8)
Buffalo Bills (13-4 overall, 8-0 home)
The Bills, winners of the five straight AFC East titles, went undefeated at home for the third time in franchise history. Buffalo scored 30 or more points in seven of eight games in Western New York and Josh Allen (40 total TDs) is the frontrunner for his first NFL MVP award.
Miami Dolphins (8-9, 5-3)
The Jets will look for their first road win in South Florida since 2014. The ‘Fins topped the Jets, 32-26, in OT in Week 14 as both Garrett Wilson (7-114) and Davante Adams (9-109-1TD) had 100-plus-yard days and rookie RBs Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis totaled 148 yards on 28 offensive touches.
New England Patriots (4-13, 2-6)
After New England defeated the Bills’ backups in Week 18, Patriots owner Robert Kraft informed Jerod Mayo that he would not be returning as head coach. QB Drake Maye, the No. 3 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, had a most impressive rookie year. With Maye in place, the Pats have several options at the top of this year’s draft.
Baltimore Ravens (12-5, 6-2)
The Ravens have one of the most dangerous backfields in football with QB Lamar Jackson and RB Derrick Henry. Jackson hit on 66.7% of his passes this season for 4,172 yards with 41 TDs and 4 INTs. After a regime change, the Jets will look to secure their first road win over the Edgar Allen Poes in seven tries.
Cincinnati Bengals (9-8, 3-5)
Cincinnati made a strong playoff push down the stretch, winning their final five games. Joe Burrow (4,918 yards, 43 TDs) is one of the league’s top quarterbacks and the Jets will need a strong interior push from DT Quinnen Williams plus great coverage in the back from Sauce Gardner and the DBs.
New Orleans Saints (5-12, 3-6)
The Jets (Jeff Ulbrich) and the Saints (Darren Rizzi) finished their seasons with interim head coaches.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-7, 5-4)
The Bucs quietly have achieved sustained success. With a win over the Saints on Sunday, the Bucs cemented their fifth consecutive playoff trip. It’s the longest streak in team history and Tampa Bay is the only team in the NFC to reach the playoffs the past five seasons. QB Baker Mayfield has enjoyed a career renaissance by the Gulf of Mexico.
Jacksonville Jaguars (4-13, 3-5)
The Jets outlasted the Jaguars, 32-25, in Jacksonville on Dec. 15. Aaron Rodgers not only threw for 289 yards and 3 TDs, but he also was the Jets’ leading rusher with 45 yards. Davante Adams caught 9 passes from Rodgers for 198 yards with 2 TDs and a successful 2-point conversion, all coming in the second half.
