Jake Paul Takes a Shot at Mike Tyson Over Requested Rule Change Ahead of Fight

Mike Tyson is set to return to the ring at the age of 58 in a highly anticipated match against Jake Paul on November 15, despite concerns from the boxing community about his age and condition. The bout will take place over eight two-minute rounds—a format requested by Tyson himself, likely as a measure to conserve his stamina given his advanced age.

Jake Paul, determined to prove himself against the former undisputed heavyweight champion, has expressed dissatisfaction with the modified rules. Speaking to *Mail Sport*, Paul explained, “I’m fighting under his rules. He wanted it to be a pro fight, with eight two-minute rounds. I’m giving him everything he wants, but I’m still going to beat him.”

Paul has also acknowledged Tyson’s potential strategy of going for an early knockout, but believes his own power will serve as a strong counter: “I could definitely see him trying for an early KO, but he’ll learn quickly that I also have a lot of power.”

Tyson, known for his explosive aggression, is expected to bring his trademark intensity, but questions remain about his stamina and endurance, which may not be enough for prolonged exchanges. Training videos show Tyson’s ferocious punches, but they are edited into short clips, suggesting he may struggle with longer bursts of energy.

Former two-weight world champion Tim Bradley has urged Tyson to use the rules to his advantage, predicting that the shorter rounds favor the boxing legend. “Two minutes instead of three will play to Tyson’s strengths,” Bradley said. “He can knock out Jake Paul—power is the last thing to leave a fighter.”

Tyson’s last fight was an exhibition match in 2020 against Roy Jones Jr., but this time, with the stakes higher and a professional rule set in place, fans eagerly anticipate if the iconic boxer can deliver another knockout performance.
