Jake Paul is aiming to fight for a cruiserweight world title by 2025. The YouTuber-turned-boxer currently has scheduled matches against Mike Perry and Mike Tyson this year.

Paul is set to box Perry on July 20 at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. The Tyson fight, initially scheduled for the same date, has been rescheduled to November 15 due to Tyson’s medical issues.

If Paul successfully navigates these bouts, he plans to step up to world level. “I believe in 2025 I will most likely be a world champion,” Paul told ESPN. He added, “I think I’m ready for it in the next couple of months and I’m going to go for it in 2025.”

Paul, who has fought from a catchweight of 185lbs up to cruiserweight, will move up to heavyweight to face Tyson but acknowledges that 200lbs is his natural fighting weight. “Cruiserweight is what my body was made for. My punches aren’t the same [at lower weight classes]; I don’t have that power or pop,” Paul explained.

The current cruiserweight world title holders are WBO champion Chris Billiam-Smith, WBA champion Gilberto Ramirez, WBC champion Norair Mikaeljan, and IBF champion Jai Opetaia. Paul is not yet ranked within the top 15 of any of the four major sanctioning bodies, so he will need to make significant progress to secure a world title shot next year.

Paul has recorded notable victories, including a unanimous decision win over MMA icon Nate Diaz and two first-round knockout victories against boxing journeymen Andre August and Ryan Bourland.
