“IT’S OVER TYSON” Oleksandr Usyk dismisses Tyson Fury’s ‘too easy’ claim ahead of heavyweight title rematch – ‘I will not leave you alone’

Oleksandr Uysk was in sheer disbelief at the comments made by Tyson Fury, as the Brit reflected on his split-decision defeat to the Ukrainian in May. Fury hinted that he was perhaps not taking the fight seriously enough. Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999 after his victory on May 18, and sounded an ominous warning ahead of their rematch this December.

Oleksandr Usyk was stunned by comments from Tyson Fury, who claimed their previous undisputed heavyweight title fight was “too easy”, despite the Brit being defeated via a split decision.
The Ukrainian became a four-belt champion on May 18 to end Fury’s unbeaten record, and is the first to achieve that feat since Lennox Lewis 25 years ago.
However, Fury has been far from magnanimous in defeat and revealed he was “enjoying it too much and messing around” towards the end of the fight.

Fury told Sky Sports: “It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be; a lot easier. People were saying he was a hard man to hit; I was lighting him up with three-and-four-punch combinations – laughing at him.
“My problem in that fight, I was having too much fun; it was probably too easy – at times, it was too easy.
“It was like I was in there with a local amateur boxer; I was enjoying it too much and messing around with him.”
Usyk expressed his disbelief regarding the comments, and replied: “Oh my god, no way! Okay, no problem. The next fight will be easy [for him too].

“For me, my fight will be hard because Tyson Fury is a big man, a good boxer, with a good boxing IQ. But if Tyson says for him it will be easy, okay, no problem.
“I see for Tyson Fury, I see for the eyes of Tyson Fury, it’s not easy. It will be hard, very, very hard. Tyson, don’t be afraid – I will not leave you alone.”
Despite Fury’s claims, many believe that Usyk was a deserved winner after nearly forcing a stoppage in the ninth round.
There were even suggestions from some quarters that the referee intervened too early and denied Usyk another knockout on his record.

However, the man himself holds no hard feelings and added: “For me, it doesn’t matter.Every referee, it’s a professional guy. The referee does his job. Maybe my last punch would be dangerous for Tyson Fury. It’s good.
“Tyson has a big family, I have a big family. Listen, we win. Everything is okay. I do not think about the referee after the fight. We win, thank god, all good, everything is okay.

“A lot of people say, ‘Oh the referee took your knockout win’ and say ‘Referee bad’. I think no, the referee is good. It’s just talking. Blah blah blah.“
The two fighters will battle again in the rematch in Riyadh on December 21, although it will not be for the undisputed championship, as Usyk has been forced to vacate his IBF crown.
