Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano has reacted to Xabi Alonso’s appointment as Real Madrid’s head coach.

Not all of Alonso’s former teammates have welcomed the news warmly.
Mascherano, who shared a dressing room with Alonso at Liverpool before joining Barcelona, responded with a playful yet sharp comment.
“I haven’t spoken to him. He was one of the best players I played with in my career. I don’t wish him the best because he’s at Real Madrid, but I’m sure he’ll be a fantastic coach for them.
“He did brilliantly at Leverkusen. He’s a great person, and I had the honour of playing with him for three years,” Mascherano said.
