HOT NEWS🏎️ Red Bull issues a stern warning to Max Verstappen ahead of the Monaco GP amid “unthinkable” speculation

Red Bull Racing has drawn a clear line in the sand as speculation swirled around Max Verstappen’s growing interest in racing outside of Formula 1, issuing a strict internal restriction just days before the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix.

After the reigning world champion was seen testing a Ferrari GTO at the Nurburgring during a rare F1 weekend, rumors began that Verstappen could one day emulate Fernando Alonso’s shocking 2009 decision to skip Monaco to race the Indy 300.

“He won’t miss a race, that’s for sure,” Horner told Sky Sports F1. “The focus has to be on the day job here.”

Horner’s comments are increasingly evident in Verstappen’s passion for all forms of racing. From sim racing to GT competitions—including his own GT team—Verstappen’s off-track activities have garnered the attention of fans and media alike. His recent test in a Ferrari GT3 has only fueled speculation about potential crossover events.

However, Horner praised his driver’s versatility and made it clear that Red Bull will not allow distractions to jeopardize their championship goals.

“He’s so versatile and passionate about all forms of racing… but obviously the priority is here,” added Horner. “It’s great that he’s embracing other forms of motorsport—we’ve always given our drivers more freedom than most teams, but that balance needs to be maintained.”

When asked if Verstappen could ever do what Alonso did, Horner was unequivocal about skipping Monaco to race the Indy 500.

“That’s not happening. Max is committed to Formula 1, and so are we.”

Verstappen himself weighed in briefly when asked about the speculation during the media day in Monaco.

“I love racing. I’ll have plenty of time to try other things when I’m done here.”

As Formula 1’s schedule continues to expand and overlap with other major motorsport events like Le Mans and Indy, the challenge of balancing commitments will only increase. But for now, Red Bull has made it crystal clear: Verstappen’s heart and helmet remain firmly in Formula 1.
