“HIS TEAM DIDN’T BEHAVE…” Oleksandr Usyk’s Promoter, Alex Krassyuk Says There’s Something Wrong With Anthony Joshua’s Team

In the aftermath of Anthony Joshua’s surprising loss to Daniel Dubois, Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter, Alex Krassyuk, has publicly criticized Joshua’s team, suggesting significant errors in their handling of the fight. Speaking at Wembley Stadium shortly after the bout, Krassyuk expressed his astonishment at Joshua’s performance and his team’s conduct.

Krassyuk described his reaction to the fight as one of shock, admitting he did not expect such a performance from Joshua. He noted that while Dubois is known for his aggressive style and powerful punches, Joshua’s lack of defense and motivation was unexpected. “It was astonishing,” Krassyuk said. “Daniel Dubois is young and powerful, but Joshua used to be a different man—he was zero defense, zero motivation. I can’t even comment on that.”

One of Krassyuk’s main criticisms was directed at Joshua’s team. According to Krassyuk, there were serious issues with how they managed the fight. “I don’t understand why his team didn’t follow basic rules. They jumped into the ring before the count was over after the first knockdown. The Bell didn’t ring, and they acted as if they were unaware of the rules. This is a basic rule—the round is not over until the referee finishes the count,” Krassyuk explained. He pointed out that entering the ring before the round officially ends is a disqualification offense, emphasizing that such fundamental mistakes should not happen at this level.

Krassyuk also expressed frustration over Joshua’s performance. He noted that Joshua’s lack of aggression and defensive maneuvers made it easier for Dubois to control the fight. “Joshua did not show any offense or aggression. His right hand was constantly on his chest. I don’t understand why his team didn’t instruct him to keep his guard up. There was no danger from Joshua, and Dubois felt relaxed because of it.”

When asked about Joshua’s future, Krassyuk suggested that Joshua should consider taking a break and focusing on his health and future plans. “He has a family and other responsibilities. He should think carefully about his next steps and take a break. It’s not the right time to decide his future immediately after this fight.”

Looking ahead, Krassyuk hinted at the possibility of a rematch between Usyk and Joshua if Usyk successfully defends his title against Tyson Fury on December 21st. “If Usyk beats Fury, a rematch with Joshua for the undisputed title is a possibility. There were some question marks in the first fight, so a rematch could be interesting.”

As fans and analysts digest the results of the fight, Krassyuk’s comments add another layer to the ongoing discussion about Joshua’s career and the future of heavyweight boxing.
