A highly anticipated bout between Chris Eubank Jr. and Canelo Alvarez has hit a significant roadblock due to the scheduling conflict with Anthony Joshua’s upcoming fight against Daniel Dubois.

Chris Eubank Jr., who recently signed with Boxxer, has been in ongoing discussions for a potential fight with Canelo Alvarez. However, Ben Shalom, Eubank Jr.’s promoter, revealed that the timing of Joshua’s fight has complicated plans to stage the bout in the United Kingdom.

“The difficulty we’ve had with staging the fight in the UK is that with the AJ card on September 21, it’s hard to envision another stadium card a week either side of that. That’s been the main barrier,” Shalom explained.

As a result, the potential fight between Eubank Jr. and Alvarez is more likely to take place in Las Vegas. This location would avoid clashing with Joshua’s high-profile IBF heavyweight title fight at Wembley Stadium.

Despite the logistical challenges, Shalom emphasized that Eubank Jr. remains keen on the fight. “Chris has a certain expectation for a fight like that; he’s earned a huge amount during his career, and he’s got other big fights being offered to him. But it’s definitely a fight that he wants. Negotiations are ongoing but it all comes down to whether it makes financial sense for him,” Shalom added.

The negotiations between Eubank Jr. and Alvarez are also being influenced by financial considerations. Both fighters are looking for a deal that meets their monetary expectations, which adds another layer of complexity to the discussions.
While fans eagerly await a resolution, the potential clash between Eubank Jr. and Alvarez remains uncertain. The boxing world is watching closely to see if the fighters can overcome these obstacles and bring this exciting matchup to fruition.
In the meantime, the spotlight remains on the upcoming Joshua vs. Dubois fight, which is set to dominate the UK boxing scene in September.
