‘He doesn’t want it anymore’ – Carl Froch doubts Anthony Joshua’s future in brutal assessment after Daniel Dubois KO defeat

Carl Froch has called for Anthony Joshua to consider retirement following his disappointing performance against Daniel Dubois, where he suffered a fifth-round stoppage at Wembley Stadium. Joshua was dropped four times during the fight, and Froch believes this defeat severely impacts Joshua’s chances of facing Tyson Fury in 2025, pushing him further down the heavyweight rankings.

Froch, who has had a contentious history with Joshua, noted signs of trouble even before the fight began. On his show “Froch Talks Fighting,” he stated, “Joshua walked to the ring and looked nervous… I didn’t like the look in his eyes.” He contrasted Joshua’s demeanor with that of Dubois, who appeared relaxed and confident from the start.

Throughout the fight, Froch criticized Joshua’s performance, claiming he looked “rigid” and “did everything wrong.” He pointed out that Joshua’s aggressive approach became misguided, leading him to get caught by Dubois. Froch described Joshua’s attack as “novice,” suggesting it lacked the sophistication expected at a championship level.

Froch’s post-fight analysis was blunt: “By round five, he looked like he’d run out of ideas, like a beaten man.” He questioned Joshua’s desire to continue boxing and expressed concern over his ability to recover from the significant shots he received.

Despite the outcry for retirement, Joshua has downplayed such suggestions, asserting he plans to fight again in 2025. The decision will likely depend on available opportunities, as both Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn have hinted at the possibility of a rematch.

As for Joshua’s future in boxing, much remains uncertain. A potential clash with Tyson Fury is still on the table, depending on the outcome of Fury’s rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on December 21. For now, the heavyweight landscape is shifting, and Joshua’s next steps will be closely watched by fans and analysts alike.
