Gunther sent a two-word message after his loss to Cody Rhodes at the WWE Crown Jewel Premium Live Event. On the following edition of Monday Night RAW, The Ring General claimed that Rhodes was the better man.
At SummerSlam, Gunther won the World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Damian Priest. With help from Finn Balor, who betrayed his former tag team partner, The Ring General was able to win the bout.
On Twitter/X, Gunther sent a two-word message reflecting on his promo from RAW. His next title defense will be against Priest, who defeated Dominik Mysterio, Sheamus, and Seth Rollins to become the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship.
“Moving on,” Gunther wrote.
Sam Roberts claimed that Triple H had left the door open for a Cody Rhodes-Gunther rematch
According to Sam Roberts, Triple H could book a rematch between Cody Rhodes and Gunther after the finish to their match at Crown Jewel.
At the premium live event, The Ring General failed to submit his opponent despite putting him in the Sleeper Hold on multiple occasions. Eventually, The American Nightmare walked away with a pinfall victory.
Speaking on the NotSam Wrestling podcast, Roberts discussed the possibility of a rematch between the reigning WWE World Champions.
“But it does, I think, leave it fairly open for the potential in the sense that, like, why was the RAW match between Gunther and Sami Zayn so important? Because Sami Zayn beat Gunther. So it’s like Gunther has no blemishes except for this one. And eventually, whether it’s at WrestleMania, whether it’s a year from now, whether it’s two years from now, because everything counts.”
Gunther will face Damian Priest in his next title defense. Meanwhile, Rhodes’ future is yet to be decided. He could reignite his feud with Kevin Owens, who attacked the Undisputed WWE Champion following Bad Blood.
