“The Ring General” is one step closer to becoming the WWE King of the Ring, as Gunther won a quarterfinal match on the May 13 episode of WWE RAW.

Kingston took the fight to Gunther during his entrance, and they brawled at ringside. Kingston attacked Gunther’s knee, and it was clear that “The Ring General” was not 100%. Gunther rallied and slammed Kingston onto the broadcast table.

Gunther went for a dive off the top rope, but Kingston moved. This gave the former WWE Champion some breathing room, and he fired up with a flurry of offense. Gunther trapped him in a Boston Crab, but Kingston fought his way out. Gunther leveled Kingston with a clothesline, but Kingston refused to give up.

Kingston sent Gunther head-first into the ring post. He hit Gunther with Trouble in Paradise on the outside. Gunther narrowly avoided getting counted out. In the end, Gunther dropped Kingston with a powerbomb and made him tap out to the Boston Crab.

In the other semi-final match on the RAW side of the bracket, Jey Uso will face Ilja Dragunov. The winner will advance to the tournament finals at WWE King and Queen of the Ring.
