Gervonta Davis Makes Massive U-Turn before rematch with Ryan Garcia, "We don't want a rematch"

Ryan Garcia continues to make headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Following his shock win over Devin Haney, it was revealed the 25-year-old had tested positive for a banned substance on two occasions during fight week.

Now suspended by the New York State Athletic Commission, his social media activity has become increasingly erratic. That culminated this week in a series of wildly racist and Islamophobic remarks which included a vile mention of George Floyd.

Speaking to MillCity Boxing, Gervonta Davis‘ coach Kenny Ellis expressed his anger.

“He be around George Floyd’s brother in this boxing s**t but don’t even know who he is, but he running his mouth. We’ve got a freedom of speech in this country, but now that we know what’s on his mind, you know.
I would never f**k with Ryan. I would never f**k with him … Ryan hate my daughter. Ryan hate my grandchildren. You understand what I’m saying? F**k Ryan, and whoever don’t like it, see me. I don’t start s**t but don’t f**k with people … He knows what he did. He needs to go somewhere and see a shrink man. F**k him.”

Davis stopped Garcia with a body shot early last year. The event was a huge commercial success.

‘Tank’ has recently said he is open to a rematch, and Garcia even turned up to his latest fight against Frank Martin wearing a t-shirt saying ‘Tank’s number one fan’ and ‘rematch me b***h.’ Garcia’s desperation was likely two-fold – an attempt to avenge his only loss and access the big-money ‘Tank’ Davis fights draw.

Ellis, however, said that it was absolutely not the plan now given the recent developments.
