Frank Warren, speaking to talkSPORT, expressed his belief that Deontay Wilder should have hung up his gloves after his third encounter with Tyson Fury in 2021.
The Queensberry promoter, who staged the 5 vs 5 show alongside Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom on Saturday night, saw his team emerge victorious, including over Wilder. Among Warren’s team was Zhilei Zhang, who brutally KO’d the American in round five.
Following this latest defeat, which followed his loss to Joseph Parker last year, many observers speculate that Wilder’s career may be nearing its conclusion.
When asked if he has ever advised a fighter to retire, Warren responded on talkSPORT Breakfast on Monday, “Yes, I have, I’ve done it on numerous occasions, but the problem is whether they listen. And unfortunately in boxing, what they can do is go somewhere else.”
