Floyd Mayweather Vows Redemption in Mexico Exhibition After Press Conference No-Show”

Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has reignited his Mexican exhibition following a recent no-show at the launch press conference.

The former world champion was expected in Mexico last week for the launch press conference, but failed to appear, leaving a room full of media and participants waiting in anticipation. Subsequently, Mayweather removed any trace of the planned event from his social media.

Exactly one week later, Mayweather appears keen to make amends. He has confirmed the date of August 24 and the Arena CDMX venue for his next bout. While the opponent remains unconfirmed, World Boxing News understands that John Gotti III is favored over Victor Ortiz. Both men have faced Mayweather previously, but Gotti seems to be the frontrunner.

Mayweather confirmed his intention to proceed with the event, stating: “Mexico, I will see you soon. Stay tuned for details about the upcoming exhibition!”

Gotti, who traveled to Mexico for the previous event that never materialized, has yet to comment. A potential Mayweather vs. Gotti rematch would be controversial following a brawl at the end of their last clash.

If Gotti is chosen, Ortiz is expected to feature in the co-main event. However, his opponent remains unknown. Additionally, Ortiz’s scheduled professional return on August 31 at the American Legion in Garden City could be affected by Mayweather’s event.

More details are expected to be revealed by Team Mayweather once the fighter addresses the media with full details.
