Floyd Mayweather issues a WARNING to Canelo Álvarez ahead of the fight against Terence Crawford.

The Floyd “Money” Mayweather boxing icon has never been one to sustain their language, and their latest comments make waves again in the world of boxing. Before a possible excess of success between Canelo Álvarez and Terence “Bud” Crawford, Mayweather has delivered a blunt warning to the Mexican superstar: “No Bud Substics.”

Mayweather, who defeated Canelo in 2013 by unanimous decision, intervened in the possible fight during an appearance in the media in Las Vegas. With rumors turning on a possible super fight between the undisputed medium -sized champion Canelo and the former indisputable welter king, Mayweather, made it clear who he thinks he has the advantage.

“I have been in the ring with Canelo. I have seen Bud closely. I trust me when I say this, if Canelo is not careful, Crawford could surprise the world again,” said Mayweather.

A party for ages?

While the fight has not yet been officially confirmed, both camps have expressed interest in the clash. Crawford, high after dismantling Errol Spence Jr. in a master class performance last year, has openly requested an opportunity in Canelo. Although raising multiple kinds of weight, Omaha’s underactive seems to be discouraged by the challenge.

Canelo, meanwhile, comes from a comfortable victory over Jaime Munguia and remains the current champion with 168 pounds. While critics argue that Canelo has avoided the most dangerous opponents in recent years, others see it as one of the most successful combatants of their generation.

However, Mayweather’s comments have revived the debate about whether Canelo is really prepared for the type of tactical brightness that Crawford brings.

“The styles make fights”

Mayweather emphasized the old boxing adage that “the styles make fights”, noting that adaptability, IQ and Crawford’s precision could raise serious problems for Canelo.

“Canelo is strong, no doubt. But Bud is surgical. It is a blow of change, studies you as a book, and when it makes its movement, it ended. Just ask Spence,” Mayweather continued.

In fact, Crawford’s demolition of Errol Spence Jr. surprised many in the world of boxing. The fight, announced as a 50-50 war between two Kings of Welter undefeated, turned out to be an unequal clinic. Crawford’s ability to change the positions, control distance and land with the precision of punishment has led many to speculate if he could replicate that domain to 168 pounds.

Mayweather, who has had his share of disputes with both men over the years, seemed more respectful than critical. But his message was clear: seen to Crawford could be Canelo’s biggest error.

Canelo team response

While Canelo himself has not yet responded publicly to Mayweather’s warning, his coach and confidant Eddy Reynoso repelled the comments.

“Everyone has opinions. Floyd had their time, now it’s ours. Canelo respects Crawford, but we are not afraid of anyone,” Reynoso told ESPN Deportes.

He also hinted that if you can reach the right agreement, the fight could occur at the end of 2025.

Even so, fans remain divided. On the one hand, the size and power difference between Canelo and Crawford could be decisive. On the other hand, sublime Crawford boxing skills can be too much for a fighter who has sometimes fought against slippery technicians.

Mayweather’s legacy and perspective

It is no secret that Mayweather is proud to remain undefeated and be the only man who decisively overcome Canelo. His contribution has weight not only for his legendary career, but because he is one of the few who has first -hand experience against the Mexican champion.

“People forget: I was 36 when I beat Canelo, and he was 23 years old, strong, hungry. I made it easy. Crawford has the tools to do something similar. I’m just giving a fair warning.”

Mayweather’s comments will surely cause a discussion worldwide for boxing. Either a genuine concern, promotional labor or both, one thing is safe: if Canelo vs. Crawford happens, it could be one of the most historical fights of the decade.
