FIGHTING TALK Tyson Fury to have crunch comeback talks after luxury Bahamas holiday as £300m Anthony Joshua fight looms

Tyson Fury, the self-styled ‘Gypsy King’ and former WBC heavyweight champion, is set to hold crucial comeback talks following his recent luxury getaway to the Bahamas, amid mounting speculation about a potential £300 million mega-fight with Anthony Joshua.

The 35-year-old heavyweight has been enjoying a well-earned break in the Caribbean with wife Paris and their children, sharing sun-soaked snaps on social media, complete with yacht cruises and beachfront relaxation. But while Fury has remained tight-lipped about his next move, sources close to the camp say serious discussions are now imminent as pressure builds for him to return to the ring.

Fury’s last bout, a controversial draw against Oleksandr Usyk, left the boxing world clamoring for clarity about the future of the heavyweight division. Though the result was hotly debated, the spectacle reaffirmed Fury’s box office status and reignited public demand for a showdown that’s been years in the making – Fury vs. Joshua.

Now, the boxing world is buzzing with reports that talks between the two British titans’ teams could resume as early as next week, with Saudi Arabia reportedly prepared to bankroll the bout with a jaw-dropping purse of up to £300 million. Such a figure would make it one of the richest fights in boxing history – rivaling the likes of Mayweather vs. Pacquiao and Fury’s own trilogy with Deontay Wilder.

A source close to Team Fury revealed: “Tyson has had time to reset and relax after a very intense year. The Bahamas break was important, but now it’s back to business. The Joshua fight is on the table again, and both sides know the fans won’t wait forever. It’s crunch time.”

Joshua, meanwhile, has been on a career resurgence of his own. After back-to-back losses to Usyk, the Watford-born fighter has secured a series of confidence-boosting wins, including a devastating knockout of Francis Ngannou earlier this year. Under the guidance of trainer Ben Davison, AJ looks sharper and more composed – and is once again calling for a shot at Fury.

“Let’s get it on,” Joshua said in a recent interview. “The fans want it. I want it. Tyson knows this is the fight that defines our era. No more delays.”

Promoters on both sides appear more open than ever to making the bout happen. Eddie Hearn, who represents Joshua, hinted that 2025 could finally be the year the long-awaited clash takes place: “We’re closer now than we’ve ever been. The money’s there, the interest is there, and Tyson knows this is the fight that cements his legacy.”

Fury, who previously insisted he was done with boxing after beating Dillian Whyte in 2022, has repeatedly changed his stance on retirement. His rollercoaster relationship with the sport, marked by comebacks, controversies, and candid interviews, has kept fans and pundits guessing. But if the Joshua deal comes together, it may prove too big a stage – and payday – for the ‘Gypsy King’ to turn down.

Analysts say the clash would not only be the biggest all-British boxing event in history but could also determine the greatest heavyweight of the post-Klitschko era. Both fighters are former unified champions, both have global fanbases, and both are hungry to settle the score once and for all.

As Fury jets back from his tropical retreat, attention now turns to the negotiation table. Will he commit to one last epic battle? Or will boxing’s most unpredictable star take another detour?

Whatever the outcome, one thing is certain: if Fury vs. Joshua finally gets signed, it won’t just be a fight. It will be a global sporting event.
