In a bold move, female boxing champion Claressa Shields has thrown down the gauntlet to Jake Paul, asserting confidently that he would be unable to defeat her in the ring.
“I don’t think that he’s that good of a boxer,” Shields, who boasts a 14-0 record, stated to TMZ Sports. She expressed a longstanding “beef” with Paul, stemming from comments he made after her split-decision loss in her MMA debut, where he reportedly called her a “loser.”
Shields, 29, holds multiple titles including WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, WBF, and The Ring in the female middleweight category. Despite acknowledging Paul’s role in elevating the profile of fellow female fighter Amanda Serrano, Shields remains steadfast in her belief of her superiority over Paul in both boxing and MMA.
The challenge comes amid Paul’s rescheduled bout against Mike Tyson due to the latter’s health concerns, now set for November 15. Paul, with a record of 9-1 and six knockouts, has garnered attention for his quick victories in recent matches.
The boxing world eagerly awaits whether Paul will accept Shields’ challenge and if the clash of these two charismatic fighters will materialize in the near future.
