Fans have taken to social media to criticize Max Verstappen following his dramatic collision with Lewis Hamilton during the closing stages of the Hungarian Grand Prix. The incident, which saw Verstappen attempt to overtake Hamilton, resulted in the Red Bull driver clipping the Mercedes car and being launched into the air.
The collision forced Verstappen off the track, causing him to lose momentum and ultimately dashing his hopes of securing a third-place finish. In the wake of the crash, fans did not hold back in their condemnation of the Dutch driver.
One fan remarked, “Verstappen is a dangerous driver. He could have ruined @LewisHamilton’s race… hope he gets what he deserves!!” The sentiment was echoed by others who labeled Verstappen as “reckless” and “dangerous” to fellow competitors.
Another critic posted, “Unpopular opinion: without a fast car, Max Verstappen isn’t as good a driver as many believe… he is reckless and at times dangerous for other drivers in a fight.”
A third fan added, “Verstappen is such a sore loser. Temper tantrum incoming.” Meanwhile, a fourth user on X commented, “Verstappen moaning about ‘driving people off the track’ and ‘running people off the road.’ Oh, the irony!! #F1 #HungarianGP.”
The Hungarian Grand Prix ended with Oscar Piastri clinching the win, Lando Norris in second place, and Lewis Hamilton finishing third. Verstappen, meanwhile, crossed the line in fifth position.
Throughout the race, Verstappen appeared visibly frustrated, especially after earlier expressing his displeasure with Red Bull’s “terrible strategy.” Following the collision with Hamilton, the stewards placed Verstappen under investigation, adding further tension to the already heated race.
