Fact Check : A Satire Site Claims That Travis Kelce Would Depart From The Chiefs If Harrison Butker Remains On The Team.

A satirical website published an article claiming that NFL player Travis Kelce would leave the Kansas City Chiefs if his teammate, Harrison Butker, remains on the roster for the upcoming season. The story then circulated on social media as if it were real.

A screenshot, purportedly from Kelce’s newly opened browser tab, featuring a stern-faced Kansas City Chiefs logo, surfaced on Facebook on May 20 with the caption: “TRAVIS KELCE NEWS BREAKING: ‘I WILL DECLINE IF HARRISON BUTKER JOINS NEXT SEASON’S TEAM.'” One individual commented, “So Travis gets to voice his opinion now? Why? If Harrison isn’t up to par. Hypocrite much?! Goodbye Travis! Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.” Another person remarked, “Good. Perhaps you forgot about freedom of speech.”
However, there is no evidence to suggest that Kelce stated he would resign from the team if Butker were to stay.
Kelce addressed Butker’s commencement speech on his podcast “New Heights” (24:33), opened in a new tab, on May 24, where he mentioned that although he didn’t “agree with most” of the speech, he didn’t judge his teammate’s views, stating, “Especially his religious views, his way of life, that’s not me
