F1 Fans Back Lewis Hamilton to Join Verstappen and Alonso for Le Mans Challenge

Lewis Hamilton has emerged as the preferred choice among F1 fans to complete a hypothetical 24 Hours of Le Mans lineup alongside Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso. The potential collaboration has sparked intrigue, considering the historical rivalries between the three drivers in Formula 1.

Verstappen and Alonso have both previously expressed interest in competing together at the legendary endurance race, but with Jos Verstappen opting out, the duo would require a third teammate. In a recent fan poll conducted by RacingNews365, Hamilton received the highest number of votes, solidifying him as the favored candidate to join the all-star lineup.

Despite past tensions with both Verstappen and Alonso in F1, Hamilton’s unmatched experience, seven world titles, and adaptability in different racing formats make him an intriguing addition to such a project. His selection in the poll edged out strong competition, including 2015 Le Mans winner Nico Hülkenberg, who secured just over a quarter of the votes—narrowly behind Hamilton.

Other notable names in the poll included Charles Leclerc, who has previously expressed interest in endurance racing, and former Red Bull reserve driver Nyck de Vries, whom Verstappen had previously mentioned as a possible candidate. However, De Vries received just over nine percent of the votes, while endurance racing veterans Sébastien Buemi and Kamui Kobayashi garnered even less support.

Though Hamilton did not secure an outright majority, his selection by the majority of fans signals a growing interest in seeing one of F1’s greatest drivers take on a fresh challenge at Le Mans. Whether such a dream lineup ever materializes remains uncertain, but the mere possibility of seeing Hamilton, Verstappen, and Alonso unite on the endurance racing stage has already captivated the imagination of motorsport enthusiasts.
