Lando Norris Fires Five-Word Message to Verstappen After British GP Triumph

McLaren’s Lando Norris delivered a stunning victory at the 2025 British Grand Prix, capitalizing on a controversial 10-second penalty to teammate Oscar Piastri to claim his first home win. In a post-race interview, Norris sent a bold five-word message to championship rival Max Verstappen: “You can’t win them all.” The comment came as Verstappen, who started on pole, struggled after spinning during a safety car restart, finishing fifth in a rain-soaked race.

The British Grand Prix was a chaotic affair, marked by heavy rain, multiple safety car periods, and a pivotal incident on lap 21. Piastri, leading the race, braked sharply during a safety car restart, dropping from 218 km/h to 52 km/h, which the FIA deemed a breach of Article 55.15 for erratic driving. Verstappen, caught out by the sudden slowdown, briefly overtook Piastri before yielding the position, only to spin out moments later at Turn 6, dropping to 10th. The stewards handed Piastri a 10-second penalty, served during his final pit stop, which gifted Norris the lead and ultimately the victory.

Norris, speaking to Sky Sports F1, didn’t hold back, aiming his pointed remark at Verstappen: “You can’t win them all.” The McLaren driver, buoyed by the roaring “Landostand” crowd, celebrated his fourth win of the 2025 season, narrowing Piastri’s championship lead to just eight points. Verstappen, now 69 points behind Piastri, responded swiftly in the press conference, saying, “He’s right, but I’ll keep fighting.” The Red Bull driver acknowledged the challenging conditions, noting, “It was a tough day, the car wasn’t balanced right after the spin, but we salvaged what we could.”

The race also saw a historic moment for Sauber’s Nico Hülkenberg, who clinched his first F1 podium in his 239th start, finishing third from 19th on the grid. Lewis Hamilton took fourth for Ferrari, while Piastri, despite his frustration, secured second. McLaren’s Andrea Stella called Piastri’s penalty “harsh” and suggested the late safety car call-in contributed to the incident, though the team opted not to appeal.
Fans on X were abuzz, with one post stating, “Lando’s words to Max were savage! He’s owning this season.” Another praised Hülkenberg, saying, “Nico’s podium steals the show!” The championship battle is heating up, with Norris and Piastri set to continue their intra-team duel at Spa-Francorchamps in three weeks, while Verstappen faces an uphill climb to reclaim his title.
