LONDON — In an unexpected twist on the Formula One scene, Aston Martin has shaken up the paddock by revealing its willingness to shell out a considerable sum to secure the services of Red Bull Racing driver Sergio “Checo” Perez. The British team, owned by Canadian tycoon Lawrence Stroll, is looking to consolidate its position as a title contender and appears willing to bet heavily on the Mexican talent.

The news, which emerged via sources close to the team, suggests that Aston Martin is exploring an attractive offer to persuade Perez to leave his seat alongside Max Verstappen.
