After separating the Haas at the end of the 2022 season, Schumacher took on a reserve role in Mercedes before shifting attention in 2024 to a campaign of the world championship of full -time endurance with Alpine.

His performances have been solid, but F1’s call remains strong. That ambition can now become reality with the Cadillac F1 team that is prepared for its debut in 2026.

A strong show in Miami

On the weekend of Miami’s Grand Prix, Schumacher was seen to mix in the paddock, in particular next to his friend Intimo Esteban Ocon. He also made a point to visit his old team Haas, raising eyebrows on his presence and potential return.

According to Sport1, a key moment arrived when Schumacher started a private conversation with the legend of the F1 Mario Andretti, without an agent or a manager present. The gesture impressed Andretti, who according to what was reported was “particularly affected by the fact that the German sought the dialogue itself”.

Cadillac’s options and Schumacher possibilities

Graeme Lowdon, principal of Team Cadillac, confirmed the first interviews with several drivers. Among these is Sergio Perez, who remains a favorite candidate by fans and a strong candidate for one of the two available places.

Although no formal contracts have been signed, Schumacher’s initiative and pedigree – being Michael Schumacher’s son – made him a compelling option. He is still facing strong competition, but the possibility of a return is more tangible now than at any time of the last two years.

While Cadillac is preparing for his entry of 2026, all eyes are on who will guide the charge behind the wheel. And Mick Schumacher could be on top of that list.
