England Fans Criticize Two Stars, Demand Immediate Exclusion from Squad

England’s lackluster performance against Slovenia has left Three Lions supporters deeply dissatisfied, despite securing an early spot in the Euro 2024 Round of 16.

While England needed a win against Slovenia to secure top spot in Group C, Gareth Southgate’s side fell short, struggling against Slovenia’s disciplined defense. Fans particularly criticized Southgate’s decision to field Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher and Newcastle United wing-back Kieran Trippier.

Sportbible quoted several fans voicing their frustrations. One social media user commented, “Gallagher has never been the answer. First half was dire, second half dragged on for 10 minutes and we looked much better with players in their proper positions. Mainoo or Wharton would have improved things.”

Another tweeted, “Mainoo made an immediate impact. Gallagher should never have started in the first team.”

A third fan added, “Trippier is average at best but somehow remains one of Southgate’s favorites. He should be third choice at right-back.”

Yet another remarked, “Trippier is completely lost at left-back, we are totally toothless.”

During halftime, former England goalkeeper Joe Hart commented on BBC Radio 5 Live, saying, “Things look a bit messy for England, especially on the left flank. Jude Bellingham was overlapping and occupying the left-back position in the final third to link up with Phil Foden, but it left Kieran Trippier unsure of when to push forward or hold back. You can see Foden trying to make an impact but no one seems to be on his wavelength.”

Southgate made early second-half substitutions with Mainoo and Palmer entering the fray, which sparked a better performance from the Three Lions. However, their limited time on the pitch wasn’t enough to make a difference, and the match ended in a disappointing 0-0 draw. Fortunately for England, Denmark’s draw against Serbia meant they topped the group.

With this result, England finds themselves in a favorable bracket, avoiding giants like Spain, Germany, Portugal, and France. However, questions remain about the team’s cohesion and selection choices as they prepare for the knockout stages of Euro 2024.
