Real Madrid has tried to give a blow to the signing market with a proposal that has already been qualified by the press as “the exchange of the century.” The White Club would have offered Ferland Mendy, its current left side, plus a payment of 60 million euros to convince Paris Saint-Germain to let Nuno Mendes out, considered one of the best left side in the world.

The proposal, considered millionaire, aimed to reinforce one of the priority positions for Madrid players for the next season. Florentino Pérez, president of Real Madrid, sees in Mendes a player capable of dominating the left lane for years, providing defensive solidity and offensive presence.

However, according to sources close to the Parisian club, President Nasser al-Khelaïfi responded in a totally unexpected way. Not only did he rejected the offer, but he would also have declared that Nuno Mendes is “non -transferable”, making it clear that the young Portuguese is a key piece in the PSG long -term project.

This firm response surprised not only the Real Madrid directive, but also European analysts who thought that the PSG, after several recent large -scale investments, would be willing to negotiate important sales to balance their accounts. Instead, Al-Khelaïfi seems determined to keep Mendes at all costs, especially not to reinforce a direct rival like the Madrid club.

Although the operation has been discarded at the moment, speculation about a possible pulse between the two giants does not cease. Real Madrid could return with a superior offer, while the PSG maintains an inflexible posture: its young stars are not for sale.
