Eddie Hearn Regrets Passing on Daniel Dubois – Now a Major Threat to Anthony Joshua.

Eddie Hearn recently revealed that he passed on the opportunity to sign heavyweight contender Daniel Dubois before he turned professional. Now, as Dubois prepares to face Anthony Joshua on September 21 at Wembley, Hearn may be regretting that decision.

Dubois, who was part of the Team GB setup, made waves in the boxing world early in his career. He sparred with elite fighters like Anthony Joshua, Joe Joyce, and Frazer Clarke, gaining a reputation as a future heavyweight star. Although he was on track for a potential Olympic appearance, Dubois opted to turn professional at a young age, debuting in 2017.

When Dubois was ready to enter the professional ranks, Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions made a firm offer. Hearn was approached with the chance to match Warren’s offer but chose not to, citing the high cost and the fact that Dubois was relatively unknown at the time.

“I spoke to the people at GB, and they said he’s a really good young heavyweight,” Hearn told talkSPORT.com. “But I hadn’t heard much about him, and it was a lot of money. I decided not to match the offer.”

After suffering a setback in a loss to Joe Joyce, Dubois bounced back impressively. His perseverance has been evident in his recent victories, and at just 26 years old, Dubois is now considered a top contender in the heavyweight division. His comeback included notable wins over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic, the latter of which earned him the IBF heavyweight world title.

On September 21, Dubois will step into the ring against Anthony Joshua in what promises to be a blockbuster fight. This matchup has the potential to shake up the heavyweight division, and Dubois is determined to prove himself on the biggest stage yet. For Hearn, who passed on the opportunity to sign Dubois in 2017, the upcoming fight could serve as a stark reminder of what might have been.

Daniel Dubois has emerged as a serious threat to Anthony Joshua’s reign, and the highly anticipated fight could mark a pivotal moment in both fighters’ careers. With Dubois in the form of his life, all eyes will be on Wembley as Hearn’s decision not to sign the young heavyweight years ago may come back to haunt him.
