Ducati Responds After Pecco Bagnaia’s Honest Admission About MotoGP 2025.

Davide lateozzi, Ducati’s team manager, is confident that Pecco Bagnaia will be able to “adapt” himself to the new Moto GP25, despite admitting that he is still unable to find the ideal configuration for him.

The reigning champion had a positive 2025 start of the season in terms of points, but so far he has struggled to be a true container for the victory due to a race step that has not seen him express himself as in 2024. Bagnaia has repeatedly stressed that he could not attack the front of his bike as last year, an aspect on which Ducati is working intensely.

On Friday, at the France Grand Prix, Pecco said: “I can’t do what I want with the front of the bike, so I have to solve the problem in other areas.” Then, he qualified in sixth position before leaving the scene on Saturday during the sprint, with his first retreat.

In response to the concerns about his performance, Latezzi showed that, despite the difficulties, Bagnaia showed progress compared to 2024. “His level has increased compared to last year,” said latezzi before Saturday sessions, “and now he is third in the championship, only 20 points from the leader. It is not a bad start at all.”

The Team Manager added that the pilot needs to adapt to new parameters, while recognizing that Bagnaia is improving and has a greater potential than the previous year. “It is going faster than last year, so it is clear that the level has grown. Now it must adapt to the new conditions, but I am convinced that it will make it.”

Bagnaia, who in the past asked to return to the GP24, revealed to Spain that the GP25 has a greater potential, despite Ducati’s current domain with Alex Marquez. Latezzi reiterated that the engine of the GP25 is different from that of the GP24, even if it is not the complete one of 2025 tested in pre-installation.

However, a complete return to the motorcycle of 2024 is not possible, but all the other parts are modifiable and ducati is ready to test any modification that Bagnaia wishes. “First of all, I have to clarify that the 2025 engine is different from that of 2024,” explained latezzi. “We have approved two different engines, one for 2024 and one for 2025. This means that the 2025 motorcycle is different, but as regards the rest we can try everything that the pilots want.”

A Le Mans, Ducati brought a new frame, which Marc Marquez has already had available since Saturday. Bagnaia, however, has not received the new version, since the team has decided to focus on improving the front of the bike. Marquez said that the new frame has a feeling similar to the standard version, but Ducati believes that it is a more promising choice in the long run. The goal is that Bagnaia can test him on Monday after the Aragon Grand Prix.
