‘Differences between the GP23 and the GP24? The top three in the championship are great riders…’

Ducati currently has the most competitive bike in MotoGP, but not only is this year’s Desmosedici GP24 fast and winning – the GP23 has also won races this year, and one of its riders, Marco Bezzecchi, believes it has better traction – but also less performance in braking and cornering.

Álex Márquez also rides last year’s bike, and in comments to Motosan.es, he spoke about these comparisons. The Gresini rider believes it also depends on the riding style:

– I think they are riding styles; in the end, when you can’t manage either the entry into the corner or the cornering itself, you can often prepare much better for the exit of the corner, which is why it seems to have more traction than the GP23. But if you compare yourself, for example, in that specific race with [Jorge] Martín, he will have everything better, but not just because of the bike, but also because he does things better. So it depends on how each thing is done, but it could be that the GP23 has a bit more traction, as I said. But if they say that the entry and cornering is much better, then that benefits me.

The Spaniard also defended that although the top three in the championship all have the GP24, in MotoGP, the quality of the rider has a significant influence: ‘Well, we need to look at the top three in the championship. They are great riders. We are not in Formula 1, where it’s about the cars, meaning that the driver has at most 30%, while 70% is the car and 30% is the driver. Here we are in a sport that, luckily, is 50/50’.
