After a humiliating loss to Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney is looking for ways to change the outcome of the match that took place on April 20.
According to a report from reputable sports website, Boxing Scene, WBC super lightweight champion Patrick English’s lawyer has sent an eight-page written complaint to senior members of the Sports Commission. New York State Sports, demanded a change in the result of the match with Ryan Garcia after news of the American boxer failing drug tests spread on media platforms.
According to the report, Mr. English asserted that the use of performance-enhancing drugs allegedly placed Devin Haney in an unsafe match under NYSAC supervision.
“The fight became a laughing stock and in addition to the PED use and IV ban, after the fight Garcia admitted missing weight was a tactic to give him an unfair advantage,” English wrote.
“Since there was no Monday weigh-in required by the committee, it is impossible to know how much he weighed on fight night. This is why, after presenting the facts below, we request that the result of the match with Garcia be annulled, which is more appropriate than a no-contest result in this situation.”
Garcia was notified of Devin’s complaint, and as expected, he immediately responded on X. Garcia even provided a screenshot of the NYSAC regulation in question. to drug testing and said “everyone is being sued.”
Garcia tested positive for the banned substance ostarine in two banned drug tests with the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) before his fight with Haney. He also “tested positive” for the metabolite 19-Norandrosterone, which comes from the banned substance nandrolone, but that result was eventually reversed.
“KingRy” has requested his B sample to be tested, and the results are expected back on May 22.
