Despite Selling 1.5 Million Pay-per-view (PPV) Units, The Tyson Fury Vs. Oleksandr Usyk Event Incurred Substantial Losses.

How much did Turki Alalshikh lose from the Fury vs. Usyk fight? His excellency, Turki Alalshikh, is credited with orchestrating the recent boxing revival through his Riyadh Season events in Saudi Arabia.
The most recent highlight was arguably the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk fight, reportedly generating over 1.5 million pay-per-view sales. Despite this success, Alalshikh faced financial shortfall with the event. The chairman of Saudi Arabia’s entertainment authority purportedly incurred a $27 million loss, despite earning over $50 million from PPV sales alone.
This information stems from a recent report by ESPN, detailing how Alalshikh incurred such losses despite the event’s success. Additionally, sponsorships contributed $40 million, and ticket sales brought in an extra $3 million, yet these revenues fell short of breaking even.
In total, the event generated $93 million in revenue, while the final cost amounted to a staggering $120 million, resulting in a $27 million deficit. Despite this setback, Alalshikh’s future endeavors in organizing similar events seem likely to continue.
