DEFEAT THE KING – Jake Paul SENT 7 HARSH PROTESTS TO Canelo AND FORCED HIM TO CANCELLATE THE KING OF BOXING’S THRONE
In a day filled with tension, drama, and statements bordering on spectacle, Jake Paul, the controversial influencer turned boxer, shook the foundations of boxing by sending seven harsh public protests directly to Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez. The self-proclaimed “Problem Child” not only attacked the Mexican’s credibility as a champion, but also asserted that Canelo no longer deserves the throne as “King of Boxing.” The result? An awkward silence from the Guadalajara native… and a wave of rumors pointing to a possible symbolic relinquishment of the title he has proudly worn for years.
Jake Paul, known for his provocative style and ability to turn any dispute into a viral phenomenon, posted a series of videos and messages on social media in which he accused Canelo of “protecting his legacy with fixed fights, avoiding real challengers, and clinging to a throne that no longer belongs to him.” In one of the most viral clips, Jake quipped, “King of boxing? What boxing are you talking about, theater or circus?”
The seven protests were as pointed as they were incendiary. Paul questioned the quality of Canelo’s recent opponents, demanded a public explanation for why he keeps avoiding David Benavidez, and challenged him to prove his greatness by facing young, dangerous fighters. He even mocked his recent fight with William Scull, saying, “That show was a Televisa soap opera, not a professional fight.”
The media pressure was so brutal that, according to sources close to Canelo’s team, the Guadalajara native reportedly held an emergency meeting with his advisors to discuss how to handle the crisis. What was later leaked was even more surprising: Canelo had reportedly decided to abandon the “King of Boxing” narrative in his future promotions, considering that the title no longer represents what he wants to project at this stage of his career.
Although Canelo hasn’t issued a formal statement, his latest social media post was interpreted as a clear signal. In it, he wrote: “I don’t need thrones, I need peace and respect for what I’ve built.” For many, this message is a diplomatic way to step down from his pedestal and distance himself from the character that so inspired him, but is now beginning to backfire.
Jake Paul, of course, celebrated the move as a “moral victory” and has already hinted that he’s willing to move up a level to “finally expose the lie of traditional boxing.” The truth is that, although many still don’t take him seriously as a boxer, his media impact is undeniable… and today, he’s achieved what neither rivals, promoters, nor critics could: making Canelo Álvarez himself rethink his reign.
A new era is beginning in boxing, and it seems not everyone is ready for it.
