He makes his light heavyweight return against Gvozdyk.

Gvozdyk (20-1, 16 KOs) is a Ukrainian former champion who held the WBC and lineal light heavyweight titles from 2018-19. After losing his belt to Artur Beterbiev, Gvozdyk took a four-year break from boxing, but returned in 2023 to pick up a trio of victories over Josue Obando, Ricards Bolotniks, and Isaac Rodrigues.

Benavidez and Gvozdyk face off for the interim WBC light heavyweight title.
