Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua have been confirmed to face off at Wembley on Wednesday for the IBF heavyweight title. Dubois said his previous failures helped him become more mature and ready for this big challenge. He believes he will achieve full redemption if he defeats Joshua, who has pledged to knock him out this September.
Dubois has confirmed his recovery from losses to Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk, with a streak of three consecutive victories, including an impressive knockout of Filip Hrgovic. He hopes that a victory over Joshua will make him an IBF world champion and propel his career to the next level.
On the contrary, Joshua was not afraid to show his determination when he announced that he would defeat Dubois and impose another defeat on him. He emphasized that he is ready to regain the title and confirm his strong comeback.
This fight is expected to be a big challenge for both boxers, with Dubois seeing this as an opportunity to prove his bravery and Joshua aiming to re-establish his position in the boxing world.
He said: ‘While I respect AJ as a good fighter, I believe Usyk is something different. His punches and movements are smoother. He has something special.”
Despite their threatening words when they first looked at each other at the media launch of their fight, Joshua said: ‘Daniel has done well to bounce back from his defeat. Since we played against each other, I thought he was a young player with a lot of potential.
‘I feel strange facing a younger man in my 30s but I still feel fresh in my 30s.
‘He’s a good fighter with a big punch. And despite what people said about him when he was stopped by Joyce and Usyk, he proved his mettle. Especially taking all those big right-handers from Hrgovic. ‘Whether he can take a huge right-hander’s hundred from me is another matter. We’ll know when I take him down.’
