Daniel Dubois Reveals How He Felt When Anthony Joshua ‘Wobbled’ Him Before Knockout

Anthony Joshua seems intent on pursuing a rematch with Daniel Dubois.

Many people in the boxing world have advised the former two-time champion against it given the way in which he was defeated back in September. He was knocked down multiple times and was chasing the fight from the first round, with a low guard and lazy jabs after not really recovering from the first big blow.

The one thing that Joshua has to hang on to is what happened in the final few seconds before he was put down to the canvas for the final time in the fifth round with a short right hand – getting Dubois in trouble for the first time in the fight.

‘DDD’ looked momentarily wobbled, causing Joshua to step in and throw more shots, but the IBF champion remained composed enough to find the finisher.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Dubois was asked what was going through his mind when Joshua ‘wobbled’ him in the last round.

“No one said that doing it was going to be easy. I had to slay the king so I had to come through whatever firepower he was bringing at me. In that moment it was just focus. I like those sort of matches up where we let the hands go, roll the dice, back and forth gun-slinging, that was really exciting to me, to be honest.”

Dubois has said he is prepared to back up that career-defining performance with a rematch with AJ, should his fellow Brit want it.
