In a recent incident during a training session for the Euro 2024 tournament, Cristiano Ronaldo was chased by an enthusiastic fan who breached security and managed to embrace him on the pitch. The Portugal national team was conducting an open training session in Gutersloh on June 15th, where fans were allowed to observe.

According to Fox Sports, 6,000 tickets were distributed for free to Portugal supporters, but over 50,000 people tried to access the ticket website. Some tickets were reportedly resold for as much as 1,000 Euros (approximately 27 million Vietnamese Dong).

During the training session, an overzealous fan jumped over a barrier and ran onto the field, evading two security personnel to reach Ronaldo. Ronaldo allowed the fan to take a selfie with him before security escorted the fan off the pitch.

Following this incident, around 10 more fans entered the pitch to approach other Portuguese players. Goalkeeper Jose Sa even intervened to block one of the fans rushing towards him.

Due to the chaotic scenes, police had to escort Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates off the training pitch. Fortunately, no Portuguese players were injured.

Portugal is placed in Group F alongside Turkey, Georgia, and the Czech Republic for Euro 2024. They will begin their campaign against the Czech Republic at 2 PM on June 19th. Euro 2024 is likely to be Cristiano Ronaldo’s final international tournament with the Portuguese national team.
