CONFIRMEDđź’Ą Franco Colapinto sues FIA over shocking allegations! Max Verstappen penalized for violating strict FIA rules.

Formula 1 is experiencing a period of high tension following the recent controversies involving Argentine driver Franco Colapinto and four-time world champion Max Verstappen. Rumors are circulating that Colapinto could potentially sue the FIA over allegations that have rocked the paddock, while Verstappen faces sanctions for violating the FIA’s strict regulations.

Franco Colapinto, the young Williams driver who made his debut in 2024 and now competes for Alpine, has been in the spotlight after a number of on-track incidents. Colapinto’s alleged lawsuit against the FIA is reportedly related to sanctions that the Argentinean considers unfair, including a 10-second penalty and the loss of two super license points following a collision with Liam Lawson at the 2024 Mexican Grand Prix. In that incident, Colapinto attempted to overtake Lawson, but the stewards deemed him responsible for a maneuver deemed “potentially dangerous.” The Argentinean expressed his frustration, arguing that the rules favor drivers who defend their position on the inside, leaving little room for those who attack on the outside.

Meanwhile, Red Bull’s undisputed leader Max Verstappen has been penalised several times this season. One of the most notable incidents occurred at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, where the Dutchman was handed a community service ban for describing his car as “a piece of shit” during a radio call. The FIA, under the leadership of Mohammed Ben Sulayem, has tightened sanctions against offensive language and misconduct, drawing criticism from drivers. Verstappen, known for his outspokenness, has called the measures excessive, arguing that emotions are part of motorsport.

Verstappen was also penalised in Mexico with two 10-second penalties for aggressive manoeuvres against Lando Norris, sparking debate over the consistency of the FIA’s decisions. Colapinto, upon hearing of the Dutchman’s sanction, expressed surprise on his team radio, exclaiming: “20 seconds?” The incident highlights the tensions between drivers and the FIA, which is seeking to impose stricter standards of conduct on and off the track.

The controversy is not limited to racial penalties. The FIA and Alpine have condemned abusive comments on social media directed at drivers such as Yuki Tsunoda after a clash with Colapinto at Imola. The Argentine, aware of the impact his fans have on him, advocates respect and supports campaigns against online hate.

As the 2025 season approaches the Monaco Grand Prix, Formula 1 remains a hotbed of excitement, rivalries and regulatory debates. Will Colapinto be able to clear his name and defy the FIA? Will Verstappen continue to clash with the authorities? Only time will tell.
