Chris Eubank Sr Names “The Only Way” His Son Can Beat Canelo – “That’s A Done Deal”

Chris Eubank Jr. is once again being linked to a high-stakes fight with Mexican boxing elite, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. Eubank Jr., who has had a tumultuous career since turning professional, is looking to secure a bout that could redefine his legacy in the sport.

Eubank Jr.’s career has seen its share of ups and downs. One of his earliest high-profile matches was against Billy Joe Saunders in 2014, where he suffered a narrow points loss after a slow start. Despite possessing remarkable speed, fitness, and mental toughness, Eubank Jr. has yet to claim a world title.

His most notable victories include a win over James DeGale and a knockout of Liam Smith last year. This victory came just months after Eubank Jr. experienced the first knockout loss of his career. However, he has not fought since then, and rumors have been swirling about a potential matchup with the current undisputed super middleweight champion, Canelo Alvarez, this September.

Chris Eubank Sr. has weighed in on the potential fight, emphasizing that a match against Canelo is crucial for his son’s redemption. Speaking to talkSPORT Boxing, he stated, “Canelo is the only person he is going to be able to fight now to redeem some respect from the fighting public. I know how you win respect; it’s not beating Liam Smith who beat you. Jr, this is my view, your saving grace is going to be Canelo.”

Eubank Sr. also addressed the issue of his son’s weight class, insisting that moving back down to middleweight is no longer feasible. “You’re never going to get back down to 160, I won’t allow that to happen. When you’re walking around at 13 stone 5 you’re not going to get down. You’re a 168 fighter,” he asserted.

Eubank Sr. is adamant that his presence in his son’s corner is essential for a victory against Canelo. “Canelo is your way out, your way to win respect, you can’t beat him, the only way you can beat him is if daddy is next to you, that’s it, period. Only That. That’s a done deal.”

Conor Benn, another prominent figure in the boxing world, has expressed his interest in seeing the fight come to fruition, albeit for a different reason. Benn hopes to see Canelo defeat Eubank Jr., adding an extra layer of intrigue to the potential matchup.

A fight between Chris Eubank Jr. and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez could be a defining moment in Eubank Jr.’s career. With his father’s staunch support and guidance, and the potential for redemption on the line, this bout promises to be a significant event in the boxing calendar. Whether Eubank Jr. can rise to the occasion and reclaim respect in the boxing community remains to be seen, but the stage is set for an exciting and pivotal showdown.
