May 6, 2025 – South Carolina — College basketball star Chloe Kitts and her sisters have donated a remarkable $1 million to transform a long-abandoned house in South Carolina into a sanctuary for homeless youth.

The once-forgotten property, located just outside Columbia, had fallen into disrepair over the past decade, becoming a symbol of neglect and lost potential. But now, thanks to the generosity and vision of the Kitts sisters, the house is on its way to becoming a place of refuge, healing, and hope.

A Homegrown Mission Rooted in Compassion

For Chloe Kitts—who rose to national attention as a standout forward for the South Carolina Gamecocks—the project is deeply personal.

“This land raised us,” she said during a small press conference held at the site. “And we wanted to give something back that would last. There are so many young people struggling without a place to feel safe. This house won’t just have walls—it will have warmth, love, and opportunity.”

Chloe, along with her two older sisters, Mariah and Jada Kitts, pooled their resources and worked closely with local organizations to identify the ideal location and blueprint for the center. The revitalization project is set to include a complete structural overhaul, modern living quarters, counseling rooms, educational spaces, and even a small garden area where residents can grow food and reconnect with nature.

More Than Just Shelter

The Kitts Family Youth Haven, as the facility will be named, aims to provide more than just a roof over heads. The sisters have partnered with local nonprofits, youth counselors, and social workers to design a full-service program offering job readiness training, mental health support, mentorship, and education assistance.

“We’re not just fixing a house—we’re rebuilding futures,” said Mariah Kitts. “Every child deserves a place to feel valued. This is about giving them that foundation.”

Jada added, “We know what it means to have a family who supports you. Not everyone gets that. So we want to create a place where love and stability are the rule, not the exception.”

Community Reaction: “A Miracle in the Making”

The donation has been hailed as “transformative” by local leaders. City council member Bryan Hightower called the project “a miracle in the making” and praised the Kitts sisters for leading with action rather than words.

“Young people in this city need to know someone sees them, believes in them, and is fighting for them,” said Hightower. “The Kitts sisters didn’t just write a check—they rolled up their sleeves. They walked through this broken house and imagined it whole.”

Volunteers and community members have already begun cleanup efforts on-site, and the full renovation is scheduled to begin in early June. The goal is to open the doors by spring 2026.

From the Court to the Community

Chloe Kitts is no stranger to giving back. Throughout her time at the University of South Carolina, she has participated in numerous community outreach efforts. Still, this marks the largest and most ambitious philanthropic move of her young career.

She credits her family—and especially her mother—with instilling values of service and compassion from a young age.

“My mom used to tell us, ‘When God blesses you, make sure someone else feels it too,’” Chloe said with tears in her eyes. “This project is our way of living that message out loud.”
