“CARLOS ALCARAZ AMBITIOUS” I won’t consider myself a champion until I reach double-digit Grand Slam wins

Carlos Alcaraz, the rising star of tennis, has set a high bar for himself despite already achieving remarkable success at just 21 years old. Fresh off his second consecutive Wimbledon title, Alcaraz remains grounded and focused on his long-term goals.

In a candid interview, Alcaraz shared his thoughts on his recent victory and his aspirations for the future. Reflecting on his win against Novak Djokovic, Alcaraz expressed a mix of relief and satisfaction. “Mostly relief to have won it and to come back. In the end, I was relieved to win it in the tie break,” he said. The Spaniard acknowledged the intense effort and meticulous care he and his team put into preparing for Wimbledon, making the victory even sweeter.

The camaraderie between Alcaraz and Djokovic was evident as they exchanged words at the net following the final. “I told him he was a superhuman, a titan,” Alcaraz recalled, noting how Djokovic affectionately called him “Titan” in return.

Looking ahead, Alcaraz has set his sights on the Paris Olympics, where he hopes to compete in both singles and doubles. “I have hopes of winning gold in both disciplines,” he stated confidently. With the guidance of his compatriot Rafael Nadal, Alcaraz believes they have a strong chance of achieving success.

Despite his impressive achievements, including four Grand Slam titles, Alcaraz maintains that he won’t consider himself a true champion until he reaches double figures in Grand Slam wins. “I consider a champion the legends who have many titles and many ‘Grand Slams’, whether it is 14, 15, 9, 10. I won’t consider myself a champion until I have double figures in Grand Slams,” he explained.

Alcaraz’s humility and determination are further highlighted by his respect for the ongoing competition. He acknowledged Djokovic’s relentless drive and predicted that the Serbian would come back even stronger after his recent defeat. “I’m sure after this defeat he’s going to train even harder and he’s going to be a better player,” Alcaraz said.

As Alcaraz continues to forge his path in tennis, he remains committed to maintaining his ambition and dedication. “We are going to fight. We know we are on the right path, doing things right. If we continue with this ambition, this desire to train and fight every day, I think I can do great things,” he concluded.

With his eyes set on future triumphs and a relentless pursuit of excellence, Carlos Alcaraz is poised to make an indelible mark on the world of tennis.
