The Mexican has made his position on the fight between Iron Mike and Jake Paul clear. As far as Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is concerned, Mike Tyson had a respectable reason to accept his upcoming fight with Jake Paul, despite being close to 60 years old, but the Mexican has warned that caution must be taken, because boxing is ‘not a joke.’
The boxer from Jalisco stated his position when he was quizzed about the controversial fight that will take place on July 20, and although he took a critical position, he said he understands why the legend has agreed to the fight.
“It’s hard to predict, it’s risky for Mike Tyson because he’s 57, 58 years old, I don’t know, and boxing is not a joke. But I understand why they do this, it’s a business, they’re going to box in front of 80 thousand people.”
The fight between Tyson and Jake Paul will finally take place following insistent requests from the YouTuber, and it will be held at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas. Netflix will broadcast the fight, and it will be the first boxing event shown by the platform.
What Jake Paul has said
The youtuber came out against the legend and said: “Mike wanted this. Mike wanted this to be a professional fight. Mike wants a war. So I respect him and I respect him for stepping up and taking this fight and trying to take me down.”
How Tyson and Jake Paul are coming along
The boxing legend needs no introduction. He is 57 years old and has a professional record of 50 wins, 44 by KO, and 6 losses. He retired in 2005 with a loss to Kevin McBride. However, one of the best boxers in history and the youngest heavyweight world champion of all time stepped into the ring again in 2020 in an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. in a contest that ended in a draw.
Jake Paul is 27 years old; he lost in his professional debut to Tommy Fury by split decision and won his last two fights. His record is 9 wins – six by knockout – and one loss.
