Alvarez has had a positive 2024 so far, returning to the ring with a dominant points win over Mexican rival Jaime Munguia on May 5 ‘Cinco De Mayo’ weekend.
The pound-for-pound superstar has yet to confirm his next outing, but has been taking some time out as he awaits the commencing of his next training camp.
A fan approached Alvarez at a recent event and requested that the gifted fighter lands one of his left hand body shots on him.
In surprising fashion, the fan seemed utterly at ease with taking the blow but was quickly made to regret his choice.
He landed a clattering punch on the midriff of the fan, who was sent flying backwards and looked in agony.
The video cut, but fans were quick to react with one writing: “Bro tried to kill him. He nearly killed him.”
Another wrote: “Bro, this guy will probably be p***ing blood for a week. Good job.”
One questioned: “Why would you even ask such a question from him of all people?”
A fan even claimed: “The walk off is funny like he got paid to do that lol.”
The booming shot saw one remark: “This is worse than some leg kicks I’ve seen. He ripped this dudes body KO style.”
A final viewer concluded: “Hopefully taught him a lesson to not take a punch from a pro boxer.”
Alvarez will now turn his attention away from punches against fans, and is looking to find his next opponent.
The undisputed 168lbs champion has been heavily linked with long-term rival David Benavidez, but concrete talks have yet to materialise.
Benavidez’s camp claimed that a guaranteed purse of $55 million had been made to Alvarez, a report that was quickly shut down.
But the undefeated star, who will move to 175lbs in an appearance against Oleksandr Gvozdyk on June 15, has insisted he will pursue the fight for September.
“I’m just trying to make the best fight possible. If the fans are happy that they’re paying $80 and he’s not giving the best fights possible,” Benavidez said.
“But it seems like Canelo now the more money he’s getting he’s like ‘f*** the people, I’m going to fight the easiest fights possible and if you have a problem with that the f*** you too’.
“After this fight we’re going to talk to the WBC and see what happens with that, but we’re going to make a strong case to make the fight happen in September. I’m entitled to it.”
“It’s crazy because a Mexican fighter is a fighter of honour who doesn’t care about money.
