Breakings: Meghan Trainor said ‘nobody warned me’ before she went too far with Botox

Meghan Trainor recently opened up about her experience with Botox, admitting that her first attempt at a “lip flip” left her unable to smile. The 30-year-old pop singer shared her story during an interview on Today, revealing that she had not been fully informed about the potential effects of the procedure, which resulted in some unexpected consequences.

“I got what’s called a ‘lip flip,’ and it was my first ever,” Trainor explained. “And everyone’s like, ‘You’re going to love it, your little lips,’ but I didn’t love it because I couldn’t smile.” The procedure, which involves injecting Botox into the lips to create a fuller appearance, turned out to be much more painful than she anticipated. “It was the most painful thing, and I was like, ‘This is going to look great,'” she recalled, mimicking a half-smile. “Nobody warned me.”

In addition to the lip flip, Trainor also received Botox injections in her jaw to help with clenching. She later realized that the combination of the two treatments contributed to her inability to smile. The singer’s dad happened to walk in during the procedure, and she expressed her concern with a simple, “Oh, no.”

Trainor previously discussed her Botox experience on her Workin’ On It podcast, admitting that she had received too much Botox and was now seeking help. She had hoped that the lip flip would give her a fuller upper lip, but instead, she was left with a face that hurt to smile. “I cannot smile anymore,” she complained. “My face hurts to smile, to even try.”

The “lip flip” procedure, which is a non-surgical method of making lips appear fuller, works by injecting Botox into the corners of the mouth and the edges of the lips. This relaxes the muscles around the upper lip, causing it to “flip” upward and give the appearance of a fuller, more prominent lip. However, Trainor’s experience highlighted the potential downside, which she wasn’t prepared for.

Despite the Botox mishap, Trainor shared a valuable lesson: “It taught me my smile does light up a room, and when it’s not there, it’s a dim light. I feel like I’m not happy because I can’t smile.” The singer emphasized how important her smile was to her sense of self and how she felt less like herself without it.

Trainor also revealed that, despite her Botox experience, she still plans to undergo plastic surgery in the future. After giving birth to two children, Trainor confessed that her breasts had changed, and she was considering getting a breast lift and possibly implants. “I have saggy sacks as boobs,” she humorously stated, explaining that she wanted a little lift and possibly an implant “just so they’re like, ‘We are boobs.'”

Trainor’s candidness about her cosmetic procedures and the lessons she has learned from them offer insight into the challenges of cosmetic enhancements. Despite the setback with Botox, she remains open about her future plans for surgery, showing that even celebrities face struggles when it comes to beauty and self-image.
