Red Bull’s Christian Horner Confirms Immediate Chassis Change for Sergio Perez at Brazilian GP Amid Performance Pressure

Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has announced a significant adjustment for Sergio Perez ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix, aiming to address the Mexican driver’s prolonged struggles on the track. With Perez’s performance under intense scrutiny following a series of disappointing results, Horner confirmed that the team has decided to provide Perez with an older chassis for this race weekend at Interlagos.

The change comes as Perez faces a tough season, with his last podium finish dating back to the Chinese Grand Prix in April. His recent P17 finish in his home race at the Mexican GP underscored his ongoing challenges. Despite signing a contract extension earlier this year, the team’s patience appears to be wearing thin, as Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko is reportedly exploring replacement options, with drivers Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson being considered for Perez’s seat in 2025.

Horner stated, “We are doing our best to help rebuild his confidence. He had a difficult weekend in Mexico, and we hope that this chassis change might provide a psychological boost.” He emphasized Perez’s experience and awareness of the high-performance expectations at Red Bull, acknowledging the driver’s own recognition of his underperformance.

The change highlights Red Bull’s determination to regain lost ground in the constructors’ championship, as the team has dropped to third place. While Max Verstappen continues to lead Red Bull’s points tally, Perez’s recent results have made the team increasingly reliant on Verstappen’s successes.
