Max Verstappen has asked Red Bull for a thorough investigation into an accident involving unsafe box entry during the sprint car of the Miami Grand Prix, which resulted in a dangerous collision with the Mercedes driver, Kimi Antonelli. The accident occurred when Verstappen received the green light to climb out of his box while Antonelli, aged 18, was struck. This caused the wheel of Verstappen’s left passenger car to impact against the rear quarter of Antonelli’s Mercedes W15. This collision destroyed Antonelli’s capacubos and spared the rest of the carbon fiber, which forced the Italian youngster to abort on the block and lose any opportunity to score on the sprint track.

As a result, Verstappen received a 10-second penalty for the unsafe climb. Although he finished the race at the sprint in the fourth place, the penalty relegated him to 17th and last place. The race ended behind the safety check due to a shock between Fernando Alonso and Liam Lawson, which prevented Verstappen from recovering position after the penalty. This review allowed the McLaren drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, to secure a double in the sprint car, which resulted in Verstappen losing ground in the championship standings ahead of the McLaren duo.

Following the incident, Verstappen emphasized the need for an investigation, saying: “This is something we need to investigate.” He also expressed on the basis of what nadie turned out to be successful, recognizing the heroes who gather the modern F1 monoplazas in this type of collisions. The director of the Red Bull team, Christian Horner, admitted that the mistake was human and promised that the team would learn about it. On the other hand, the director of the Mercedes team, Toto Wolff, criticized the sequence of crashes in the boxes, suggesting that “someone panicked” during the climb.

This incident marked the second problem related to the barriers in the boxes that Verstappen has blocked this time, including the problems with the Red Bull traffic light system in Baréin which affected both him and his teammate Yuki Tsunoda. According to the review in Miami, Verstappen demonstrated resilience in achieving pole position for the main Grand Prix with a minimum windfall of 0.003 seconds over Lando Norris.

To resume, Verstappen’s sprint career in Miami was marred by a costly collision in the boxes due to a serious insecurity from Red Bull, which resulted in a penalty and the loss of positions. Verstappen has asked his team to investigate the accident thoroughly to avoid future accidents, while maintaining focus on competing for victories to weigh the losses.
