They added: “He loves that Joseph has a great relationship with her, and though that affair ended his marriage with Maria, he respects her as the mother of his child. He still is there for Joseph, for any advice he might need. But his day-to-day life doesn’t involve Mildred at all.”Mildred worked for Arnold as a maid for 20 years and their brief relationship during that time lead to Joseph, but also to relationship problems between Arnold and Maria Shriver. According to the source, their encounter was merely a “one-night stand” rather than a part of a larger relationship. “Even though the situation wasn’t ideal and caused a lot of problems, he loves his son. Arnold isn’t going to fight fate, it is what it is. Though there isn’t any type of relationship with Mildred, he has no ill will towards her at all,” the source explained.
The former Governor of California has four other children with Maria Shriver named Patrick, Katherine, Christopher, and Christina. Of Arnold’s children, Joseph is the only one who has chosen to ditch the family name. He said on Good Morning Britain: “I think the main thing is that I am trying to do things on my own and pursue my career with my will, my determination and my work ethic. It’s just doing everything through me. My family is very big about supporting from afar and not being so hands on. I really appreciate that and I think it is really important growing up as a man to do things on your own and to figure it out.”
