Anthony Joshua threatened to smash a chair into Daniel Dubois’s face as the two faced off in a tense joint interview

Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois came together to officially announce their fight at Wembley Stadium on September 21.

The all-British battle will either see Joshua reaffirm his status as a top dog on these shores or give fans a changing of the guard moment for young Dubois.

The fight was made because Oleksandr Usyk has now official vacated his IBF World Title, leaving him with just the WBC, WBA and WBO following his undisputed victory over Tyson Fury last month.

Dubois was immediately elevated to full champion having beaten Filip Hrgovic for the Interim belt on June 1. Joshua, as number one challenger, gets a shot at becoming a three-time titlist.

Although both generally respectful, the first face-off quickly turned sour according to promoter Eddie Hearn. He revealed what went down in an interview with The Stomping Ground.

“It was the end of the face to face when someone said ‘September 21st guys, not before’ and Daniel said ‘well if you want to go now, I’ll go now as well.’

And AJ said ‘do you want me to smash this chair across your face? Don’t ever disrespect me like that again’ and went for him. Then they all sort of had to be pulled apart.

There wasn’t any punches thrown but that’s the one thing, if you say that to AJ, it’s a bad move.”

The pair now enter training camp to top what is a stacked undercard courtesy of Riyadh Season, Matchroom, Queensberry and Goldstar.
