Anthony Joshua Displays a Carefree Attitude Amid Serious Warnings as He Prepares for His High-Stakes Clash with Daniel Dubois

As Anthony Joshua gears up for his all-British heavyweight world title fight against Daniel Dubois, the former champion’s mindset has become a focal point of discussion. According to his promoter, Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s new carefree attitude might just give him the mental edge he needs to reclaim the IBF crown.

Joshua, who aims to become a three-time world champion, is set to face Dubois in September at Wembley Stadium. The IBF title was recently vacated by undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk, setting the stage for this highly anticipated showdown. Dubois, on the other hand, is hungry for his first world championship and sees this bout as his golden opportunity.

Their first interaction was anything but friendly. A planned face-off had to be canceled when tensions escalated, with Joshua threatening to throw a chair at Dubois after feeling disrespected. This aggressive move was out of character for Joshua, who is typically known for his composure in press conferences and face-offs. However, Hearn believes this behavior signals a new chapter in Joshua’s career, reflecting his acceptance of his current stage and his readiness to abandon past concerns.

In an interview with SportsBoom.com, Hearn elaborated on Joshua’s transformation: “He’s always had that edge. But I think he’s a lot less guarded now. When he won the Olympics, he came through that GB school which can be very corporate and that’s been amazing for the sport. He’s been an ambassador for it, increased interest in it again and increased participation among kids at grassroots level. But now he thinks ‘I’ve done my job. I don’t give a —- anymore.’ Now, if you put it on him, he wants to take your head off.”

Hearn also pointed out that fans have responded positively to this change in Joshua. “People say they love this new AJ. It’s not a new AJ in terms of his edge. He’s always been real. But I do think it’s a new AJ in terms of his confidence.”

Joshua’s popularity in British boxing is undeniable, reminiscent of the acclaim once enjoyed by Ricky Hatton. This popularity is evident from the numerous stadium fights he has headlined. Yet, Hearn argues that Joshua’s recent altercation with Dubois indicates a shift in his priorities—away from maintaining a polished public image and towards embracing his authentic self.

Hearn continued, “Now, when I see people say ‘Come on then’ he’s back on the estate and out in the park. In the past, he might have taken a deep breath and decided not to rise to it or take the bait whereas now things are very different. He won’t back down. He’s not bothered about all the other stuff, trying to impress different people anymore. He’s always been true to himself, and he’s always been real. I know that. He knows that.”

As Joshua prepares for his high-stakes clash with Dubois, his new attitude could be a decisive factor. The fight promises to be a thrilling encounter, with both fighters bringing their unique strengths and determination to the ring. Joshua’s willingness to embrace a carefree attitude amid serious warnings may just be the key to reclaiming his status as a world champion.

Boxing fans around the world are eagerly anticipating this showdown, which not only holds significant implications for the careers of both fighters but also promises to deliver an unforgettable night of boxing at Wembley Stadium.
